We are excited to invite you to a special webinar dedicated to the beautiful island of Sardegna, presented live from Cagliari by our friends and colleagues at the Italian language school “L’Accademia”: Maura, Stefania, and Monica.

In 2024, Roberta, from percorsoItaliano, had the pleasure of visiting Cagliari and “L’Accademia” in person, spending time in their classrooms, exchanging ideas, and getting to know Maura, Stefania, and Monica not only as wonderful teachers, but as passionate ambassadors of Sardinian culture. For over twenty years, they have been teaching Italian to students from all over the world in Cagliari.
Now, it is truly special for us to share this collaboration with all of you.

Sardegna is often imagined as a summer destination because of its breathtaking mare (sea), acque cristalline (crystal-clear waters) and spiagge spettacolari (stunning beaches). While this beauty is certainly real, this webinar offers a deeper perspective: a region rich in cultura (culture), storia (history), tradizioni (traditions), and connessioni umane (human connection).

During the webinar, we will explore the island through five evocative themes: luce (light), pietra (stone), acqua (water), vento (wind), and voci (voices).

Join us for this unique experience of lingua, cultura, storia, and atmosfera, and discover Sardegna... oltre il mare (beyond the sea).

If you’ve never visited Sardegna before, this webinar may spark your curiosity and inspire your next trip to Italy.

our last in-person workshop

Thursday, may 14

5:00 pm – 7:00 pm (PST)

With Gianfranco D’Aniello

il piemonte in un calice

In 2024 many of you joined us for a memorable evening dedicated to the wines of Piemonte. This year, we were delighted to bring this experience back and invited you to gather with us on Thursday, May 14, for a special wine tasting celebrating one of Italy’s most remarkable wine regions.

During this in-person workshop, we once again welcomed our special guest and Italian wine expert Gianfranco D’Aniello, who guided us through the rich wine culture of northwestern Italy.

Roberta, who is originally from Torino in Piemonte, first met Gianfranco several years ago through mutual friends connected to a family-run winery in the Langhe. This beautiful, hilly landscape is home to some of Italy’s most renowned vineyards and prestigious appellations, including Barolo and Barbaresco. For a long time Roberta and Gianfranco had talked about sharing this passion with the students of percorsoItaliano, and we were excited to offer this experience again for both returning participants and those joining for the first time.

In this degustazione di vino (wine tasting), we discovered how Piemonte’s distinctive wines reflect the region’s diverse microclimates, altitudes, and soils.

Guided by Gianfranco, in Italian, we savored, in un calice (in a chalice), a curated selection of sparkling, white, and red wines that represented the character of the region. Along the way, we enjoyed the noble Barolo made from Nebbiolo grapes, as well as wines produced from other indigenous grape varieties that make Piemonte so unique.

As we tasted, Gianfranco shared his expertise and introduced Italian terms commonly used to describe Piemontese wines, such as elegante, corposo, equilibrato, and vellutato.

It was a pleasure to share another wonderful evening of language and culture.

our last webinar

Friday, April 24

3:00 pm - 4.30 pm

With Giovanni Marchetti

INVENTORI E SCIENZIATI D'ITALIA

Il contributo italiano al progresso dell’umanità negli ultimi mille anni

Thank you to all who joined us on Friday, April 24 for a special webinar dedicated to the remarkable tradition of Italian inventors and scientists. As part of our spring session, “Inventori italiani”, the webinar offered a perfect complement to our course by exploring some of the brilliant minds whose discoveries helped shape the modern world.

For this occasion, we were delighted to welcome our friend and inventor Giovanni Marchetti, who guided us through some of the most important figures in the history of Italian innovation.

Our journey began in the thirteenth century with Fibonacci, whose mathematical work transformed the way numbers were understood and used throughout Europe. From there, we encountered great pioneers such as Galileo Galilei, a revolutionary figure in physics and astronomy; Alessandro Volta, whose discoveries opened new possibilities in electricity; and Guglielmo Marconi, a key figure in the development of radio communication.

We also explored the discoveries of Luigi Galvani, the mathematical genius of Joseph-Louis Lagrange, and the groundbreaking nuclear research of Enrico Fermi. The webinar concluded with Federico Faggin, who co-invented the microprocessor in 1971, a technology that powers today’s digital world.

Together, these innovators showed how curiosity, creativity, and scientific thinking have long been central to Italian culture and have profoundly influenced the course of global scientific progress.

We were pleased to share this fascinating journey through Italian ingenuity with you.

For our Spring 2026 session, “INVENTORI ITALIANI”, we celebrate Italian genius, creativity, and spirit of innovation, by naming each of our language courses after an Italian inventor, such as Leonardo da Vinci, Gugliemo Marconi, and Pier Luigi Nervi, that have made Italy a global symbol of excellence.

The workshops and the teachers pull you in via engaging and unique ways that excite adults to want to learn, and you find yourself emboldened and wanting to try to speak and communicate. And while doing so, you have gentle and gracious help and guidance from the teachers as they find a compassionate way to correct you or help you to properly pronounce things. It truly is fun and satisfying.
